Just came from seen it.

And as predicted, I cried when the end credits roled and the in-memorian appeared.

But I got more reasons than missing Heath to cry.

I cried because I found unfair that such a HUGELY talented guy parted so early, while a LOT of talentless hacks trying to call themselves "actors" are wasting our oxygen with their stupid, media-whoring stunts.

I cried because Heath buried with himself the character of the Joker. Meaning that I found IMPOSSIBLE that someone, now or later, could match such a WORK OF ART in an interpretation of an iconic character. Many people can paint portraits of a woman, but only DaVinci could came out with Mona Lisa. This Ledger creation will be there as painting that may be copied, but never matched. Sure Nicholson's Joker will be there forever in his own value, but Ledger just brought the Joker alive from the comics and set a record so impossible to break.

I cried because I can't believe I was there to watch Nolan bringing out a master piece from such material. To see what many tried but only few achieved, like Coppola among them, in making a sequel better than the original. To see how the motherfucker kept his "secret weapon" on the Joker character. To see that when Coppola had DeNiro to kick Pacino's ass in Godfather II, Nolan had Ledger over Bale. To see that the comic book genre has, finally, a corner stone for generations to come.

I cried because I imagined Jack Nicholson in full Joker characterization, at the next Academy Awards ceremony, presenting the Oscar posthoumonsly (please excuse the spelling) to Ledger, saying "Yes... I got OWNED..."

Last lines of the Joker in the "The Dark Knight", to Batman:

Now, if I may, please let me go into the technical details of the film.

I think Nolan got a good comeback as his previous style of filming, from movies like "Memento" and "Insomnia", meaning that he went after a darker, grinder, "crazier" than it was "Batman Begins". As MrTeeTee said, I loved the way the movie starts; keeps building from a eerie silence... just a smooth music introduction, no credits and right to follow a clown-masked man... and then, a very twisted bank robbery where the thieves kill each other. Yeah you KNOW one of them was the Joker, but the way it developed was pure genius

What I didn't liked from his appriach was the way he filmed the Joker. Everytime, specially at the beginning, that the Joker goes on screen the camera moves a LOT around him. I know it's meant to go with the craziness of the character, but at times (like in the assault at the Wayne party, when the Joker is threatening Rachel) it's simply annoying

Another thing is that sometimes the music score is mixed loudly in some dialogues. It caught my attention that everytime Lucius Fox got a line, music was playing in the background!

But if one thing did right this motherfucker Nolan was ALL the fucking homages to the Batman franchise The movie is PLAGUED with references to the early comics (the Maroni gangsters), the classic comics (the movie is strongly based on the classic "The Killing Joke" book), and even to the Burton movies! (Batman and Joker have their final confrontation in a very top building and they're at it like in the first Burton's "Batman", the Joker gets defeated by getting caught on one feet and suspended in the air. Even Joker says something to the effect of "Here we are again").

Damn! Nolan even gave to all of us Batman purists the gaddamn classic white eyes in his mask!!! I know it's a sonar but, damn! it looked too fucking cool!

Another nod to the Batman franchise was all the freakin technology that Bruce gets (like in the recent anime TV series) That fucking Bat-Rod is unbelievable! When the damn thing makes a U-turn over the side of a building, I had to let scape a loud "WOOOOH!" in the theatre That thing is neat

And now on with the acting from the rest of the cast:

Michael Cain is good. He can act during his sleep and still looks good I'm amazed how with so very little lines he was crucial to the plot at times (like when the decision he makes regarding Rachel's letter to Bruce).

I still think Gary Oldman is much too young to play James Gordon, but the guy delivers and he's put to very dramatic circumstances here to give his all. What I don't understand is why Nolan let go such an incredible opportunity to put Barbara Gordon (James' daughter, not his wife) in the spotlight as her future as Batgirl Instead is the fucking James Jr. go gets to be saved and be thankful to Batman. C'mon Nolan, dude!!!! What's with that?

Morgan Freeman it's completely lost and unused here His parts could've been played by a computer and not much of a difference could be noted. His "resign" at the end must mean that he won't come back to the 3rd installment. And I think it's good for him, because he started to look like the "Q" from the Bond movies

Aaron Eckhart... *betito stands up and applauds* My respects, sir. I was sensing that behind this, now underrated, actor was something cooking, and I'm glad that he decided to bloom here Altho' his conversion as Two Face was very Episode-III-Darth-Vader-ish, the guy still pulled the goods and was very convincing as a DA trying to straight things out. Very, very good, and probably the best one just behind Heath.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is a fresh addition as Rachel. Let the CruKat stay in her scientolo-home. Maggie has it right and it's a shame the fate of her character, but it really worked well in the love triangle among Batman and Two Face Nolan must have a thing against romantic scenes, because the only two smooches ocurred almost one after the other And it's good to me, because I can't stand the mellowness from his collegues, like Sam Raimi

Christian Bale... Hmmmm... How can I put it? Probably as it is. I didn't like his performance this time As much as I was impressed with the way he revitalized my all-time favorite hero in the first film, this time he's totally shadowed by the rest of the cast. A very grey performance. Add to this that I found annoying and at the same time laughable his voice as the Batman. While trying to sound raspy, all the time I was like "Duuuude! Take a fucking refreshing mint!" I'm not sure why this situation wasn't notable the first time around, probably because Bale didn't had too much lines as Batman as in this one. I'm sorry but I couldn't stand his growling voice

Still, the character was well scripted and the situations our caped hero had to go thru were pretty dramatic and Bale really pulled over the right directions in those. But once again I saw that the Batman portrayal can STILL be perfectable.

Nolan and David S. Goyer wrote a script that could be a best-seller as a book. That good it is. So with an intelligent plot like this one, it's really hard to argue any other aspects.

Nolan has outdone himself this time and I truly find hard to figure what he can come up next for the (already assured) third part.

But if he does it again, then all the Singers and Raimis in the World can retire
